Netflix and Kill
Banquo's life story via Netflix
Lilo and stitch: Lilo and stitch is about a girl named Lilo and her best friend Stitch, who she adopted as a little girl. Stitch is a genetic experiment from another planet who landed on Earth in a crash. This would be a good recommendation for Banquo because it is a heart-warming story about two best friends, like him and Macbeth! (for now). Also stitch is the weird friend, and is probably seen as the inferior person in the friendship. This is also revealed in the relationship with Macbeth, where Macbeth is given this amazing prophecy, and Banquo is just told that his sons will be king. However, despite their differences, they still have a special friendship.
Split: Split is a movie about three teenage girls that get kidnapped by a man with 23 different personalities, they learn about his different personalities as they try to survive. This is a good recommendation for Banquo because it represents two things about the play. First, it suggests Banquo's declining mental health as a result of his reoccurring dreams involving the weird sisters. Additionally, the relationship amongst all the friends in the movie is symbolic of Banquo and Macbeth. As the movie progresses, and the friends get more desperate, they begin to turn on each other in many ways. This relates to how Banquo starts to doubt the intentions of Macbeth. This reveals the internal conflict Banquo is having towards his friend as well as his internal conflict with the weird sisters.
Mean girls: Cady Heron returns to the United States after a 12 year research trip in Africa. She returns to a high school where she meets two unlikely friends, Damian and Janis. As a dare, they tell her to go sit with the three most popular girls in school to learn the inside information on their group. Banquo is stabbed in the back by his best friend. Murderers were hired in order to kill Banquo, and his sons. This relates to Banquo because it relates to how he was betrayed by someone who he believed was his friend.
Caspar the Friendly Ghost: Caspar is the story of a misunderstood ghost that is trying to befriend the children who have moved into the mansion he "haunts." This is in relation to Banquo because he comes back in a vision to Macbeth during a dinner party. However, the friendly part comes into play because the ghost of Banquo is simply a part of Macbeth's imagination. Banquo never actually harms Macbeth in any way. We can infer that Banquo is almost tempting Macbeth with his silence, not giving him a response is actually torturous to Macbeth.
First of all, your title is amazing. Second of all, I really liked that you chose movies that were vastly different from each other in the way of genre and audience, but all had common themes such as friendship. I especially liked your interpretation of Split, however I think you could've also applied the movie's subject to Macbeth. I think Macbeth could play the role of the man with the different personalities, and Banquo could play the role of the terrified girls. I think Banquo often felt trapped by Macbeth's different personalities. Macbeth was usually a great person and great friend but clearly, he has other darker sides to his personality.
